2026 Spring Grant Awards $80,736 to St. Joseph County Organizations

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce its Spring 2026 grant recipients. To date, the Foundation has awarded $80,736 in grants this fiscal year to support organizations working to strengthen communities throughout St. Joseph County.

Made possible through the generosity of local donors and charitable funds, each grant helps advance the Foundation’s core mission: to connect people, resources, and lasting solutions that strengthen our communities.

Community Impact Grant Recipients

White Pigeon Township Library

$10,000 – 104 Project

The White Pigeon Township Library serves as a welcoming hub for learning and enrichment, committed to inspiring and supporting the community through inclusive, friendly service both within the library and beyond its walls. This grant will support the development of a 5,000-square-foot greenspace adjacent to the library, featuring landscaping, accessible walkways, a pavilion, and raised garden beds designed to host regular outdoor programming and community activities.

Culture is Not Optional

$25,000 – Nature-Based Preschool

Culture is Not Optional works to foster a thriving community where all people can flourish through deep local connection, meaningful relationships, and bold, imaginative thinking. The grant will support the development of a new, nature-based early childhood education facility and program at the Huss Project. Funds will help establish the site’s initial infrastructure, including a shelter, fencing, and restroom facilities, creating a welcoming space for outdoor learning and early childhood development.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

$15,000 – Support for Three Rivers Community Program

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library helps foster a lifelong love of reading by providing free books to children from birth to age five. Through partnerships with local communities and support from Dolly Parton, the program helps young children and families build strong foundations for learning and literacy. This grant will support the continued delivery of the program for children in the Three Rivers area.

Community Support Grant Recipients

New Day Foundation Families

$3,000 – Cancer Support Services for St. Joseph County Residents

The New Day Foundation for Families provides financial and emotional support to Michigan families facing cancer. This grant will specifically assist families in St. Joseph County who are referred through hospital partners by providing financial assistance awards paid directly to creditors for essential needs, including housing, transportation, utilities, food, grocery and gas gift cards, emotional support, and resource navigation services.

Community Healing Centers

$3,000 – Hope House Recovery Housing Program

Community Healing Centers strengthen communities by helping children, families, and adults heal from the trauma of abuse, addiction, and behavioral and mental health disorders. The funds will support plumbing repairs and the installation of a new water heater at the Sturgis Hope House.

Sturgis Youth Advisory Council Grant Recipients

Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce

$5,000 – Sturgis Fest Family Night Children’s Activities and Rides

The Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce promotes a prosperous community by connecting and supporting local businesses, residents, and the surrounding region. As the voice of business in the Sturgis area, the Chamber advances member success through advocacy, collaboration, and services that help businesses grow and adapt in a changing environment. This grant will support rides and activities for Family Night during Sturgis Fest, the community’s annual summer celebration. Sturgis Fest brings residents together to celebrate all that the community has to offer, and these funds will allow the SACC to provide these rides and activities free of charge.

Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan

$8,250 – Building Girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character: St. Joseph County Girl Scouting

Girl Scouting builds girls with courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. The grant will expand access for girls in St. Joseph County to the leadership development, practical life skills training, STEAM education, outdoor experiences, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship opportunities available through Girl Scouting.

Sturgis Public Schools

$250 – Trauma Informed Activities for GSRP Preschool Sturgis Central Commons

Sturgis Public Schools partners with families and the community to provide engaging, rigorous, and student-focused learning environments that support student success. This grant will support student access to sensory table items, manipulatives, and materials for engaging learning activities for Great Start Readiness Preschool students.

Constantine Youth Advisory Council Grant Recipients

Constantine High School

$486 – AP Literature Class

Constantine Public Schools is committed to providing students with the best education possible. This grant will help expand the Advanced Placement Literature classroom library, giving students greater access to classical texts to read, study, and use in preparation for the AP exam.

Constantine Middle School

$500 – Middle School Fit-4-Life

The Fit-4-Life program provides Constantine students with the knowledge and training needed to maintain healthy lifestyles. Classes are held at the Constantine Fitness Center and the Constantine Middle School gym. This grant will support the purchase of two Rogue Slice Push/Pull Sleds for the middle school gym, helping students build strength, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness through full-body, low-impact, high intensity training exercises.

Riverside Elementary School

$250 – Interactive Read Alo

Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan supports girls in grades K-12 across St. Joseph County through hands-on experiences that build confidence, leadership skills, and lifelong values. Through programs focused on STEM, outdoor adventure, financial literacy, and community service, Girl Scouts help girls discover their potential and make a positive impact. Funding will help expand these opportunities locally by supporting program delivery, volunteer coordination, and financial assistance for memberships and activity fees, making these experiences accessible to every girl, regardless of income or circumstance.
