Community Foundation Grants Support United Way’s Capital Campaign
The Community Foundation has awarded $200,000 in grant funding to the St. Joseph County United Way in support of its Capital Campaign to build a new facility in Centreville. In addition to the $200,000 award, all gifts to the project will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Newell A. and Grace A. Franks Fund, up to $100,000 for a total contribution of $300,000.
“Our hope is that grant funding and this additional match from the Newell A. and Grace A. Franks Fund will ease the fundraising burden for this much-needed project, allowing the United Way to do what it does best to deliver critical services and support for local agencies addressing immediate needs,” says Lindsay Aguilar, Executive Director.
Grant funding came from multiple Community Foundation funds, demonstrating broad support for the project. Participating funds include:
- Newell A. and Grace A. Franks Fund
- Fund for Sturgis
- Three Rivers Community First Fund
- Constantine Haines Fund
- Eric and Lynn Jones Family Fund
- Adele M. Gray Fund
- Fund for White Pigeon
- Charles and Nancy DiGiovanni Fund
A Stronger Foundation for Nonprofit Support
This investment reflects the Community Foundation’s commitment to ensuring that local nonprofits have the resources they need to thrive. Today, St. Joseph County United Way partners with more than 40 funded agencies, providing critical programs and services across the county. A dedicated facility will allow United Way to streamline operations, expand its capacity, and introduce new initiatives that respond to the community’s evolving needs.
St. Joseph County United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler shares that this project has been years in the making. She emphasized that funding for the new building will come solely from the capital campaign, separate from United Way’s annual fundraising efforts.
“We want our partner agencies to know that our commitment to their annual funding remains strong,” Hostetler said. “This building represents our future and our continued commitment to St. Joseph County.”
