The Sturgis Exchange Club has announced the recipients of the 29th annual Doyle/Exchange Club Community Service Awards.

The annual awards are made possible by the William and Helen Doyle Fund at Sturgis Area Community Foundation. The fund, established in 1991 by a gift from William and Helen Doyle, provides support for charitable or educational programs serving the Sturgis community. Since its formation, the Fund has granted a total of $117,086 to 80 charitable programs.

2021 Award Recipients

This year’s Doyle/Exchange Community Service Award winners include Sturgis Neighborhood Program and Sturgis High School.

The Sturgis Neighborhood Program received $3,000 in support of their partnership with the CTE Building Trades program. Funds will be used to provide building trades students with warm weather gear, work boots, and other supplies needed throughout their construction work. Sturgis High School will receive $1,000 to enhance the Freshman Focus orientation program for incoming students.

“We know that a positive school culture enhances learning, and we are continually working to create an environment where students want to be,” shared Brooke Moses on behalf of the Freshman Focus program. “This grant will help us introduce students to the high school in an even more fun and welcoming way.”

As a resource and leader in local philanthropy, the Sturgis Area Community Foundation seeks to connect nonprofits to the resources they need to make an impact.
