Sturgis Area Community Foundation is excited to announce the hiring of Elizabeth Whitehead. Elizabeth joins the team at the Community Foundation as Special Projects Coordinator, a new role that will assist the foundation in supporting strategic initiatives including the implementation of Southwest Michigan’s Regional Childcare Plan for St. Joseph County.

Prior to joining its staff, Elizabeth served as a Trustee on the Sturgis Area Community Foundation board since 2019 where she played a vital role in shaping grant-making processes and governance initiatives. While a trustee, Elizabeth supported the Foundation’s response to COVID-19, helping allocate over $100,000 in relief, and has spearheaded grant evaluation efforts, distributing annual grants upwards of $200,000. Elizabeth also serves as the President of the Board for the Sturges-Young Center for the Arts, where she leads strategic initiatives and fundraising efforts to revitalize the facility.

With a BA in Music from Brigham Young University and a passion for the arts and education, Elizabeth also volunteers as an Assistant Tennis Coach and with community musical events.

“Elizabeth is a dedicated community leader who brings experience in education, community service, and nonprofit governance,” shares Lindsay Aguilar, Executive Director of SACF. “We are excited for the perspective and unique skills that Elizabeth will bring to this role and are excited to share her passion for service with our community.”
